To My Loyal Commenters: Say It Forward

Mom Blogs

I wanted to do something light and fun for today, and what could be better than a new meme, especially one that lets you say nice things about other people!

Comments are the life blood of a blog, letting the writer(s) know if they have hit the mark with a post—or at least touched a nerve. There is a new column over at 5 Minutes for Mom called Say It Forward, which highlights one, two or three commenters from that week. They also are inviting all of us to do the same thing and then link up to their post. Plus there are fun badges for both the highlighters and the highlightees (is that a word?).

So, without further ado, here are just a few of the lovely people who have been generous enough to comment on my posts and encourage me in one way or another:

The first one needs no introduction, it's Maddy at Whitterer on Autism. Funny, thought-provoking, and crafty (often all at the same time), she will soon be available to train your new puppy for half the cost of a regular obedience class. (Just kidding, you know she would really charge full price, right?)

Cale at Spectrum Siblings is, as he puts it, an "Aspie teen exploring how to cope, love, and thrive on the Autistic Spectrum." I appreciate his comments and also enjoy reading his posts and finding out more about his experiences in college and in life.

And, finally, Amazing Grace at Moms of Special Needs Children. If you need to know anything at all about special education advocacy, this is the lady to go to. As a former special education teacher and mom of a son with Asperger's, she is a fount of knowledge and has many highly informative posts to prove it.

If you three are so inclined, you can now proudly display the Loyal Commenter badge available at the 5MFM site.

Due to my need to manage my time a bit better right now and take care of some personal needs (little things like sleep, laundry, exercise… you know, those things that always end up at the bottom of the list), I am going to be contributing here just once a week in the future. Since my passion for sharing ideas and resources with others is what led me to this site, I will be focusing on Try This Tuesday for my regular posting.

For those of you that missed the topic suggestion for next week's Try This Tuesday, mainly because I forgot to put it in the post originally, here it is:

Communicating with Teachers and Paraprofessionals – how do you create and maintain a good relationship with your child's team? What methods seem to work best for you?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts next Tuesday on that or any other tips or tricks you have found to help solve a challenge you faced. For more info on how it works, check out the welcome post.

As the host of Try This Tuesday, Trish shares some of the solutions she has found to make life easier and invites you to do the same. You can also find her blogging at Another Piece of the Puzzle and Autism Interrupted.

Ah thank you, I do admit to having the gift of the blab! Glad I'm not the only one that missed the topic for Try it Tuesday – I shall put my thinking cap on, and try not to wear it backwards.

I find it alarming that I'm familiar with all your nominees…..should I be worried. Now I'm off to play in the garden as my eldest daughter has taken the whole tribe off together with dog for a doggie playdate with Thatcher's sister Bella, what we call socialization for free, for the dogs if not the kids!
Cheers
