“It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.”

Welcome to Magic Marker Monday! If you haven’t heard about Magic Marker Monday yet, click here and then hurry right back…

Seems like every week I’m finding a seven-year-old’s doodle version of the Sunday funnies around here.
This week was patterned after the comic strip Mutts by Patrick McDonnell.
I noticed she had some shadowy figures in the lower right corner and had thought that she just changed her mind about where she wanted her people to be, but no…
Come to find out, they are intentionally drawn that way.
The four visible figures in the foreground represent our family commenting on how silly the characters of the comic strip are. (In case you aren’t familiar with the Mutts comic strip, the two main characters are a little black and white dog named Earl and a black kitty named Mooch with a fondness for pink socks.)
And the small shadowy figures in the lower right corner?
Oh, don’t mind those. Those are just the seven-year-old’s imaginary friends.
And in case you were wondering, they happen to think Earl and Mooch are pretty silly too.
Almost as silly as a certain 7-year-old I know.

This is a great reminder – we do not get the Sunday paper so we miss out on the “funnies”. They were a big treat for me as a kid. We may have to rethink our Sunday paper. Good work on the drawings!
Oh my goodness! I love how you get a whole world in one picture!
I have to say – I love (LOVE) the imaginary friends. So creative.
