Thanks, Trish! We actually just bought a mini-trampoline last month for this very purpose. Jackson hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet (he's still learning to jump), but I think it will be a great thing to have in the future!

Hi! I'm in my last year of school studying to be a moderate-intensive special education teacher and I posted some of my own issues with sensory defensiveness and then some hopefully helpful tips.

come visit me :)

What a great idea! I have seen these little trampolines with the bars - they are very neat!

Here we have set up various mini-obstacle courses in the house to do pretty much the same thing. But I like the idea of the mini-trampoline and may have to look into getting one.

What a great reminder! This is soooo important for us, but sometimes it's the last thing I think of. Tired? Hungry? Grumpy? Unable to use words? OH! He just needs to move! I should know better by now!

Great post, Trish! We have a mini-trampoline too and it helps. I wish we could get a big one but our yard is a big hill, not enough flat space to put one. :( Swimming is another thing that helps, the resistance and physical activity is great! Unfortunately we don't have a pool either. So we spend a lot of time taking them to the park, b/c the exercise is great for helping them regulate and release a lot of that energy. Otherwise they end up pinging off the walls at our house (literally). As soon as they are old enough I'd love to enroll my twins in track, they both love to run and I think that will be therapeutic in a sense too, and also be a source of confidence for them.
