Who are we to judge her? I'm not surprised that we are all debating this though because women and mothers in particular are so hard on each other. We are a diverse group and what works for one mom may not for another. Some women are more nurturing than others and I don't think every mother that has a special needs child should quit her job. Every family needs to do what is best for their family and in some families that means the mother is the primary breadwinner or she simply loves her job and figures out a way to balance both or she works out of necessity. I personally believe stay at home dads can do just as good of a job as a SAHM. I know several and in a couple of them the mother just isn't all that maternal. Does that mean "maternal" mothers are better? Absolutely not.

I hope in my lifetime I will see mothers become more accepting of each other.

I'll get off my soapbox with my favorite quote from Gloria Vanderbilt:

"I've always believed that one woman's success can only help another woman's success."

But then, as I really considered some of her choices, both politically and personally, I worry about her being the one to represent "us", the moms. I have serious issues with her being a forthright and honest candidate, I do have a lot of the "can you keep your own home" debate going on in my head right now.

It will be interesting, for sure.

While I appreciate you taking the time to comment, I felt that choosing not to spread the rumor was important. Some of the links from your link lead to some very rough accusations towards Bristol.

As of right now that is simply a rumor. And even if by some chance it isn't, it still winds up hurting two children.

Ellen: To really be honest, I'm more taken aback at the number of people I've read expressing the same concern as you do.

I know some in the Ds community feel that she should be devoting herself to Trig and his needs.

From what I have read, Palin's kids will be well taken care of as her husband is going to be supporting her at home.

And I don't see Palin as one to abandon her kids. I see her as one to put them as a priority.

There are many, many stay at home Moms, that even though they stay at home, give their kids far less one on one time than working Moms I know.

But for the record, I am a SAHM. I have degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have worked at home all through out my marriage.

With Parker's birth I had to put everything on the back burner, including shutting down a very successful work at home business, as his health is fragile to say the least. Very fragile.

I am now getting my feet slowly back into the work at home world as Parker's medical bills are outrageous.

But I am not one to say that Sarah Palin should not take this opportunity because she has children at home. I totally support her.
