OH! I remember doing this craft many moons ago! What fun! I’ll have to do this with my kids soon! Thanks for the reminder
ps I will finally be joining up again next week! I have started teaching an art class for my homeschool group
This is great! Using the styrofoam trays is new to me – finally a reuse for them! Does that kind of ink wash easily, Michelle?
Oh is that ever neat.
I’d share a craft..but I lost my camera at the play place..i’m hoping someone finds it..and hands it in..
Very awesome craft!
Very awesome craft! I will have to try that!
Barbara — Happily, yes
It’s a water soluble ink that washes right off. My kind of art supplies!
Some super cute crafts this week — hope everyone’s taking a peek at our artists’ wonderful work!

Magic Marker Monday
That was very cool!
That looks really cool. I’m especially loving the rainbow. I’m not 100% sure how the craft works though – did she draw right on the foam tray? Where would you get such a thing?
Hi Mary — Yes, you just “etch” your picture into the foam tray using a pencil or other pointy object and then roll the ink onto the tray.
Then you press the paper onto the tray and lift it off. You’re left with a block print because the lines you draw into the foam tray are too deep to touch the paper and transfer any ink.
Your pencil lines will show up as white lines in your block print after the ink from everywhere else transfers to your paper.
For the trays you can either use recycled ones from packaged food items, or you can get them at craft stores. If you click the words “foam trays” in the post above it will take you to a link at Blick Art Supply where you can find foam trays in packs of 25.
Hope that helps!
