Wonderful! I believe in this idea whole-heartedly. We also have a specific time where my girls get to be with my husband one-on-one to discuss “anything” they want. This is building a wonderful relationship between my girls and their Daddy! I want my girls to know we are invested in them and how much we love them and family council is a wonderful way to do that. Thanks for a wonderful post!

My husband and I try to sit down and go over our calendars together, but we need to make it a set time every week or we forget! I think the idea of family councils is a really good one, especially as Michael starts school and there is so much more going on with everyone.

Kristie, family councils have been the best thing for our family. Sunday nights we sit down and review the following week’s calender. And we talk about prayer requests for each other and those outside of our family.

Then I have a huge calendar on our fridge for daily reference.

Sunday is also the official “Dad Makes Popcorn Night.”

Great idea! We even have Family Movie Night where we all sit and watch a DVD on Saturday night.

Um……I ought to say something positive shouldn’t I?

We have tried this but the speech delays and difficulty with attention make it a bit tricky.

Last time we tried it, it sort of dissolved into fits of the giggles.
