Tropic Blunder: The Protests Continue
I just read that Newsweek is proclaiming Tropic Thunder the best comedy of the year and that the OCregister gave this movie an "A".
Ebay has auctions for THOSE shirts. You can report this item by going to the bottom of the page and clicking on "report this item" then click on "prohibited or banned item" then click on "offensive and potentially offensive" and then click on "hateful, discriminatory, etc.
Petition to BOYCOTT Tropic Thunder This petition was put together by Parker's good friends, Melissa and Garrett! It is aimed at boycotting a movie that uses hate speech to get a laugh.
Words Hit Like A Fist the creation of our very own Dave Hingsburger here at 5MFSN and the fine folks at Vita.org. and distributed by owners of Active Grey Matter.

Thanks for the update on this story! I love the "Tropic Blunder" t-shirts that folks were wearing in the CNN video!
BTW, I clicked on the Never Go Full Stiller t-shirt. While it's funny, I'm not sure any of us would want to spend money supporting a business that also sells a host of other shirts that are offensive to the disabled. (Just do a search for "retard" on the cafepress website. It'll make you sick.)

Jenny, thank you so much for pointing this out! I had the link sent to me and I don't think anyone realized that the seller also sold other, offensive shirts.
I made the decision to remove that link.
Perhaps others may choose to make their own "Never Go Full Stiller" shirts.

Tammy,
Thank you for linking to the Words Hit Like Fists card giveaway, but we can't take credit for creating the cards.
Dave Hingsburger and the fine folks at Vita.org designed the original card. We're just supplying the printing and distribution to get the word out.
Thanks again for spreading the word!

Sue, I'll update that too!
Thanks you guys! I want nothing more than to provide the most current info possible.
And Dave is one of our own team members here at 5MFSN! Sweet!

Cafepress.com isn't one seller, it's more like a copy shop–anyone with an idea can set up a page there, selling any kind of t-shirts. There are some disability-friendly sellers there too — t-shirts with messages like "I am intelligent, I am unique, I am autistic," and "I am happy to be me" and "My uncle with Down syndrome ROCKS!" and hundreds of others — if we patronize those sellers at cafepress.com, we send a money-talks message about what we like and want.

I can't believe Ben Stiller and Jack Black's attitudes. Disgusting.

FYI, when I came to the site today there was an ad promoting Tropic Thunder in the sidebar. It said, "Get showtimes and tickets for Tropic Thunder." The ad generator is probably picking up on all the mentions of Tropic Thunder and trying to choose the ads accordingly, but if there is some way to tell it not to run Tropic Thunder ads, that would be prudent, I think.

It is great to see that ebay removed those t-shirt auctions.
Tammy, thank you for staying on top of this issue and for the links.
Trust me, every voice counts.
