"Tammy and Parker give two big thumbs down to the whole idea that autism is simply a matter of bad parenting skills."

I cannot believe the ignorance and arogance in people who truly believe that. So terribly hurtful. Although Nick isn't Autistic he has struggled with some of the issues many A's do and I would get so much "oh, he'll grow out of it." and "oh, just give him time he'll start talking."

And when I'd insist that he has problems and we're doing the right thing by taking care of it they'd (family) give me the look.

I am not even sure how I found your blog, but I am glad I did. My oldest son has Autism and Sensory issues and hearing loss. My younger son has Sensory issues. I am going to look into the bike program, though we live in FL. My older son has motor planning issues and cannot get on the bike without help. Thank you!

Those are awesome links! I've got to find out if they have any near us. My 6 yr old with autism just can't get it. He has very poor muscle tone and just isn't understanding or able to pedal well.

But ya know, it's really good to hear that it's my husband's fault. All this time I've just been indulging meltdowns and inabilities because I seriously enjoy them or I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. But now life is going to change. I just need to get my husband to smack him around a bit, right?

*sigh* the saddest part about the Savage issues are that there really are people out there that think this way. Ignorance is not always bliss!

Our local ASA was thinking of bringing in a bike program that travels to your area for a week and works with volunteers. I hope they are able to swing it next year!

Hah! I shall bear your parenting instructions in mind. For now I'm whizzing off to read your recommendation instead.
Cheers

I was on my off the computer and then I began following your links. :)

LOVE the bike program. My Wil is struggling with letting go of the tw due to CP. In fact, he has to have special wheels. Wish this was near us.

Of course, I spouted in at the autism post. Don't get me started.

And that pin cushion is adorable. I need a sewing machine. Really.
