Magic Marker Monday — Scratch Art Fun…

MMM

It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.”

Welcome to Magic Marker Monday! If you haven’t heard about Magic Marker Monday yet, click here and then hurry right back…

Have you ever had those little packs multi-colored scratch art paper call to you from the craft store paper aisle?

No?

I’m the only one with auditory hallucinations involving craft supplies?

Ah, well… I guess I may as well fess up to the rest now.

Last week I gave in to one of those crafty little voices in my head and cashed in my 40% off coupon at Michaels for a pack of multi-colored scratch paper.

Oh. My. Word.

The FUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

My kiddos (who are mile-a-minute-busy-buzzy-bees) sat fascinated and quietly scratched away making the most elaborate little skritchy scenes FOR OVER AN HOUR.

On one piece of paper.

They made up elaborate stories to go with them too — the picture above had something to do with a mommy unicorn who had lost her baby and a family of flower fairies who were trying to help her find the baby unicorn but the evil scribbldy scratchers kept getting in the way so no one could find each other and so they all kept having to start over with their search for the baby from the beginning, and “Oh, iddn’t this story jess frought with tradgedy???”

Well, it went something like that anyway.

My eyes crossed and my hearing started fuzzing out about twenty minutes into the palaverous tale.

Don’t get me wrong, the story was adorable and I LOVE me an adorable home-spun tale, but even the most adorabliest kind of adorable can make you rub your temples and begin counting the minutes to bedtime when there is no end in sight to the prattle — adorable though it may be.

Think I’ll definitely be giving this art project another try again soon though.

Perhaps with earplugs.

What has your little artist been up to this week? Link up and share!

Aha! New comment mode. I thought my brain had frozen for a moment there.

Anyway….we bought some of those a wee while back. I was a bit cautious because I used them years and years ago and they made this horrible scratchy, nails down the blackboard noise, however the modern ones have [thankfully] done away with the auditory torture so now we can much more thoroughly enjoy the experience.

[and explosive colour is just such an improvement on the old black and white ones.]
    Cheers

Nope, your brain isn’t in the deep freeze ;) Temporary bug with the comments that will hopefully get fixed soon. Hopefully the link will be showing up on the main page again shortly.

I love it – the picture and the elaborate story that went with it :) . I can relate though, last night I thought the ongoing rundown of Pokemon stats was never going to end… ;)

I love the scratch art. I know Dakota did it once. But it is fun. I should get some so we can do it here. I don’t know if I have black paint here or not I have to check. I know we can color paper and then paint it black and scratch it off. You just gave me an Idea. LOL Have a great day!

We love scratch art too. Especially what we can use when we lose that stylus. Duh-oh!

    What fun in your picture!
