Reminds me of last night. We went to the 4th of July celebration at grandma's appartment. We enjoyed all the out-door activities, but headed inside for the fire-works. Grandma and my 8-year-old sat outside on grandma's balcony, My 11-year-old was able to watch from the assisted living dining room windows. And Luke, my 6-year-old w/ autism, and I just wondered. It's great when all sensory needs can be met :-) After the show we headed straight out to catch the trolly that would take us to our car. Luke was doing his happy-dance. We were attached belt-loop to belt-loop with a child safely thingy. An older gentleman with a cane made a grummpy comment about how Luke would be sorry if he got knocked down, he was disabled! I indicated that Luke too had a disability. This opened the door for the grump to tell me the problem with his leg. I was then able to tell him how hard it is to really tell if someone is disabled. But I told him that I appricated him telling me because I could then be extra careful with Luke. This un-grumped the grump!

Warm regards,

Olivia (10), Ruthie (8) and Luke (6, BCLP,ASD)
