Wanna know how we plan to get you excited?
With a Magic Marker Monday Craft Kit Giveaway, of course!
So come take a peek at what we’ve been up to…

Dragonfly Mobiles!
Last week was our last week of homeschool for the year and we wanted to celebrate with a super-fun craft. I found a great tutorial put together by Christine from Lavender And Limes and Sarah from Going Starfishing over at a fun online magazine I stumbled across called Smaller.
We added a little kid-friendly fun with the googly eyes and bright colors. My daughter insisted on making hers ALL pink — and that they were most emphatically NOT dragonflies. They were to be referred to as butterflies. Lovely, beautiful, princess-y pink butterflies. Got it? Good. Now that we’re all squared away on that score, let me tell you about the fun we had…

I cut out the wings and my daughter painted them all with fabric stiffener.
Which she believed to be down-right hysterical fun.
So much so that she got a teensy bit carried away… my table runner is now a tad on the crispy side. Then we hung up the wings to dry with paperclips on cotton string tied beneath our kitchen cabinets.

While the wings were drying, my eager little kindergartner glued the eyes on the wooden clothespins that would become our dragonfly bodies. In no time at all, the wings were dry and I handed them over for her to glue into place. Messy, but fun!
I finished it up by gluing decorative ribbon around the edges of two plastic embroidery hoops (one smaller than the other) and then tying the hoops together, adding a small plastic hanging loop, and last but not least, tying all the dragonflies (oops I mean butterflies) onto the two different hoops at different heights which gives a tiered effect to the mobile.
We hung one in each of the kiddos bedrooms and they are beyond delighted.

In fact, we even had to make a couple extra little guys because they were so much fun. Our hallway has been filled with the happy sounds of dragonfly races all week!
NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY!!!
One lucky Magic Marker Monday participant will soon be crafting away with a dragonfly mobile craft kit of their very own!
The kit contains supplies to make one mobile: Seven pairs of pre-stiffened dragonfly wings in blue/green/gold shades (see above), seven clothespins, googly eyes, two green plastic hoops, cream-colored decorative ribbon, plastic hanging loop and a spool of golden thread. All you need is craft glue, scissors and a comfy spot to get crafting.
Entering to win is easy!

Fun giveaway!
Ooo I didn’t realize it was a kit as I was going to ask you how you made those rings [and colour co-ordinated! Faint!] That makes it much more straight forward.
We love mobiles and dream catchers amongst other things although I personally don’t think that they’re quite so asthetically appealing when they’re predominately strung up Pokemons……but maybe that’s just me.
Cheers
