So.
Did you all have a magical weekend with those magical markers of yours?
Well, we did!
In fact, we were visited by — Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Fairies!
Yep! Take a peek if you don’t believe me…

It all started with a little girl who wanted to pick flowers.
Which got me to thinking, “I wonder what sort of fun crafts are out there using fresh flowers…”
A few clicks on-line led me to this page at FamilyFun.com.
Unfortunately, the page hosting the directions for creating their cute little pixie temporarily disappeared on the day we decided to try and make our own. I gathered that she was supposed to be made by pressing fresh flower petals onto white paper to make a print, but we didn’t have any luck with that particular method. So we did what we do best.
We improvised!

My little girl was literally squealing with delight as we sat down with a bowlful of flower buds and began snipping them into fairy wings and pixie wardrobes.
Flower petal versions of paper dolls — she was on cloud nine, I tell you!

She drew the faces, and imperiously gave me instructions for designing all her little fairy friends’ haute couture gowns which she then glued into place.
I drew the line at pixie petal shoes. (A decision which, I am informed, left our little fairy friends quite appalled.)
I was then told that I must design hearts out of red azaleas for her fairies.
So that they would know how much she loved them.
Because you know there’s nothing more heartbreaking than a dejected little fairy who has no way of knowing how desperately she is adored.

And I’ll admit to snipping out a few extra hearts…
Because I fell kinda hard for them too!

Preservation Note: Our flower fairies turned out so well that we decided to press our picture once the glue dries so our little fairy friends won’t scamper off to Neverland when we’re not looking.
Craft Variation: For a more “snakes n’ snails” version, try using flower petals to create caterpillars, ladybugs, dragonflies…

I don’t have anything for this week, but that is SO cute!
Nothing as creative as that I’m sad to say. I used to press flowers when I was wee and in later years I made them into cards but those are very cute indeed. Fabulous in improvisation.
Cheers
REALLY cute!
Those are incredible. Love the detail and the creativity.
This is an awesome idea. I will have to do that with the twins very soon…I’ll post my copy version on MMM too! Great, great idea….I would have never thought of that!
Thanks for the inspiration
Oh my gosh, that is SO COOL. I am totally going to do that! (Today, time permitting!)
Those are just gorgeous! What a great craft!
How beautiful! I admire your creativity and ingenuity.
Such a fun collection of projects this week everyone! Thank your little artists for me — my Monday contained many more smiles than it would have otherwise…
